Whenever it comes to dog friendly accommodation in Victoria I hear a lot of recommendations for Best Friends Resort. Located in the Tarra Valley, 2 1/2 hours south-east of Melbourne, this jungle park is ideal for those traveling with their dogs.
Some of the features include self-gated caravan and camping sites, six secure gated areas for dog exercise, hot tub cabanas, dog-friendly play areas and a large running track. The hotel has a fenced dog kennel. All dogs sleep through the night!
If you need to travel without a dog, you can use a luxury kennel during the day. There are lots of fun things to do on site, including an adjacent waterfall and rock pool, perfect for dogs to swim in or play Doggy Monopoly.
Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage Nestled In The Hills Above Apollo Bay
Hollow Log Estate is a dog-friendly retreat five minutes from Daylesford. Nearby is a 1/2 acre dog training area and hiking trails to the dog-friendly Wombat State Forest.
Choose a rock or cabin. Stoney is a studio style cottage perfect for a couple and a dog or two small dogs. The cabin is spacious and can accommodate four guests. It also has a comfortable balcony. Both have fireplaces inside and are completely self-contained. Free breakfast, wine and chocolate included.
During our visit to the Yarra Valley, instead of returning to Melbourne at the end of the day, we extended our stay at Wigley Bottom Farm, a luxury pet-friendly farm near Healesville.
At Wiggley Bottom Farm you can choose from apartments in the main farmhouse or cottages suitable for two adults and two children. We were so glad we chose this cottage, it was very quiet and the surrounding countryside was beautiful.
Dog Friendly Accommodation In The Noosa Area
Whichever option you choose, there’s a fenced outdoor area for your dog to enjoy, including a fully fenced outdoor kennel next to a cabin for dogs who prefer to sleep outside. Dog grooming kit and treats provided. You can bring two dogs for an additional $50 per dog.
Pet-friendly Countrywide cabins are the perfect base for exploring the Otway Ranges or exploring the Great Ocean Road with your dog. There are four cottages about 25 minutes north of Lorne.
You can choose from a two-bedroom Ferny Reach or Igloo cottage, or a three-bedroom villa or Canopy, which sleeps up to nine guests. All cabins are privately owned and have private yards. Minimum stays are usually two or more nights.
Dogs are warmly welcomed and provided with comfortable beds, blankets, dog bowls and homemade treats. Thanks to the furniture cover, you can sleep on the furniture inside or crawl into the fenced dam outside. There are many dog-friendly bush tracks at the entrance to nearby Otway Forest Park.

Head to the west end of the trail and find dog-friendly accommodation along the Great Ocean Road. Once you get to Warrnambool, Port Fairy and Portland, there are plenty of dog-friendly cabins, including affordable options. On the Great Ocean Road we stayed in a cabin at the Rubber Tree Caravan Park in Port Ferry.
We were very impressed with our stay in the studio, it was beautiful, modern, with a bathroom and a great kitchen with everything we needed. Of course, our dog wanted to stay with us for $10 a night (as of 2019) and the park owners were very helpful.
The nearby town of Port Fairy is a lovely place. I recommend listing many historic buildings and then taking a self-guided tour or walking along the beach with your pup.
For a remote beach holiday, head to Golden Beach Cabins on the Golden Coast in central Gippsland, about three hours east of Melbourne. These dog-friendly cabins are located along 90 miles of shoreline!
