Hit the switch and head to the Toadstool Hoodoo Trail. As you hike through towering mushroom-shaped cliffs and bleached and jagged red rock formations, your leashed dog will have just as much fun as you do on the ride. ,
This walk is suitable for all skill levels, but is best done when the temperature is not too high due to the lack of shade. If you hike this trail in summer, bring plenty of water for you and your dog!
We visited this trail in March and were lucky to have the area almost to ourselves, but it is often crowded, so be aware of this if your dog doesn’t do well in crowds. ,

I recommend checking the weather before you go as we went on a very windy day in March and it would be useful to wear goggles on such a day. The weather didn’t stop us from having the best time!
The park requires you to keep your dog on a leash, but we only let them off when we were far enough away from people. When our dog runs around the dunes, he is in heaven. ,

If your dog is eager to be dropped off on your tour, I highly recommend a quick stop at the Moqui Sand Caves! This is a quick hike and offers great views. The trail is unpaved but can be found on highway 89 about 6 miles north of Kanab. There is a patch of land on the west side of Highway 89 as you head north. You can easily see the caves from the street. ,
You will have to climb some slightly steeper terrain with your dog. If your dog is well behaved, I recommend keeping him on his feet, as it will be easier for both of you on the way to the cave. Be sure to keep an eye on your dog. !

This is a dog-friendly trail in Zion National Park and the only trail in the park that allows dogs. The trail is paved and popular with cyclists, so be sure to keep your dog on the trail. This trail has little to no shade, so I would walk this trail in the middle of the day. Asphalt can get very hot and burn your dog’s paws, so check the weather before you go out.
While it may not be the most scenic drive in Zion National Park, you will get beautiful views of the cliffs along the Virgin River that runs along the trail. Considering this is in Zion National Park, this is probably one of the best things to do with dogs “in Kanab.”
IMPORTANT: Do not let your dog drink Virgin River water as it has recently been found to contain toxic bacteria that can be fatal to you and your dog. ,
