Vacations Near Me With Dogs

Vacations Near Me With Dogs – This winter we went on another great vacation to New Hampshire with the dogs. If you follow the blog regularly, you know that Waterville Valley New Hampshire is one of our favorite places in New Hampshire and Waterville Valley Ski Resort is one of our favorite places in New Hampshire, especially because it’s dog friendly! I always vacation in New Hampshire with my dog, almost year round, pretty much any time of the year.

We love it there and we love the New Hampshire weather in the winter, fall and summer. We think it’s the perfect holiday for dogs! It’s weird because lately we’ve been going to NH in the winter. Last summer we decided to go there for a summer vacation full of cool mountain air and walks with the dogs, but between the wildfires in Canada and the freak floods, we weren’t sure about making the long trip from Florida.

Whether you want to spend time hiking or getting out on the water, they have it all. Lake Winnipesauke in New Hampshire and Lake Sunapee are just two of New Hampshire’s beautiful lakes. You can rent a boat and go out on one of these lakes with your dog! Just remember to practice dog boarding safety instructions and wear a dog life jacket.

Dogs Luv Us And We Luv Them: Dog Friendly Fun In Waterville Valley, New Hampshire

Hiking in New Hampshire is truly amazing. There are many types of hikes and it is home to “4000 feet,” or mountains that are 4,000 feet and above. Mount Washington is the highest mountain in New Hampshire at 6,288 feet.

There are many hiking trails where dogs are allowed. You’ll have no problem finding dog-friendly hiking trails in New Hampshire! For more information, visit the NH State Parks Pet Friendly website. New Hampshire Magazine also has some tips for the best NH hikes for dogs.

I urge you to think carefully about the difficulty of the recommended trip and your dog’s walking ability and stamina. Most older dogs can safely walk about 2 to 7 miles, but this varies greatly from dog to dog. Talk to your vet before embarking on a dog-friendly hike.

New Hampshire is a place where roads can be challenging. The locals have strong hiking skills, so what they think is easy may not be for you and your dog! Be aware and consider the routes when choosing. And of course always bring plenty of water for you and your dog!

One thing I really like about Waterville Valley Resort is that they have an amazing, flat dog trail right through the resort. It actually doubles as a cross-country trail, which is unusual, but skiers know that this trail is for both pedestrians and dogs, so we rarely see skiers on this trail. My Husky Icy absolutely loves going this route! He comes back to life on a snowy road and even though he is 14 years old, he is like a little dog again. We are very happy!

I can’t wait to get him there in the summer, but it doesn’t look good this summer for a number of reasons. He is starting to slow down and I am afraid that after this year he will not be able to walk.

Here is a short video of me and my dogs crossing a bridge over one of the beautiful rivers around the area:

I have one in memory of my beloved angel Phoebe. I love it every day when I see her beautiful face carved into something I always have.

There are not many dog friendly hotels in New Hampshire in this area. Surprisingly, Waterville Valley Resort allows dogs on the resort and on certain trails, but their hotels do not!

There are many apartments around the resort and many owners rent out their places, but none are pet friendly. There are several cottages around the property, only one of which is suitable for pets. It’s called a snowy owl. We stayed there once years ago and it was terrible. The location is perfect, you can walk to everything in the resort, including the dog trail I mentioned above. I’m glad it’s under new ownership now so hopefully it gets up to speed soon. The previous owner didn’t seem to put any money into improvements and we won’t be staying there until a change is made.

For the past few years we have stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, a Marriott hotel near Plymouth, New Hampshire. It’s about 20 minutes from Waterville Valley Ski Resort, but it’s a great place! We love it there.
