The downhill path of this famous rock makes for a nice walk with the pooch. Park in one of the many car parks on Beachy Head Road (BN20 7YA), the largest of which is the Beachy Head Pub (5 minutes’ drive from the Lansdowne Hotel). If you are traveling by train, this location is only 3 stops from Western Lans station (2 min walk from Lansdowne Hotel) to Beachy Head centre. From there, you can go over the hills to the beach: downhill or the strong and easy Peace Path (circular path 750 meters). On a clear day, this spectacular view stretches for miles, offering spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Bring binoculars to spot seagulls and admire native waterfowl. This trail is falsely close to the edge of the cliff, so you’ll want to keep your untrained dog close! Afterwards, enjoy a drink at the Beachy Head, another dog-friendly pub in Eastbourne, just a minute from the station.

Perfect for dog walkers, this National Trust signposted walk links Birling Gap with the Seven Sisters. Start at Crowlink NT car park (BN20 0AX). From there, it’s a 36-minute walk to Birling Gap, where you and your tail-wagger can explore rock pools and pebble beaches. A solo walk won’t take you through sheep farms and cliff edges, so be sure to grab your canine friends to keep them close if they become troublesome!

On hot days, water is also a fun way for dogs to regulate their temperature!
