After all, holidays are more fun when you bring your best friend along. But finding a dog-friendly hotel in New England requires a lot of research. What is the hotel’s dog policy? Located on the shores of Lake Champlain, Basin Harbor believes no family vacation is complete without the four-legged members of the family. Their pet policy allows well-behaved dogs of all sizes to stay in the cottages for a fee of $20 per pet. To book online, you can select the cottages you want and add the pet fee at checkout.
Dog Friendly Snowy Escapes
This resort has everything you need for a vacation without leaving 700 acres of land. Choose from a range of fun activities for the whole family, from land to lake. The pool and guest beach are pet-free, but dogs have a designated swimming area at Fanny Beach. Roscoe and I rented a sailboat to go out on the lake! You can dine at one of the resort’s five restaurants. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurants, but they are welcome to dine with you in the Red Mill Hotel’s outdoor seating area. Dog walking and sitting services are also available if you want to have fun without Fido.

Field Guide Lodge in Stowe is an elegant boutique hotel managed by Lark Hotels. Like most properties, our pet policy allows dogs under 70 pounds to pay an additional $50 per dog per day. We stayed in three dog friendly cottages with lots of dogs and an outside entrance. You can book these packages online and add a note with the dog’s number, size and name when you check out. Only dogs are not allowed in guest rooms. Out of respect for other guests, dogs are only allowed in the hotel’s interior and common areas.
This hotel stands out for its stylish and elegant interiors. The lobby lounge, comfortably furnished with retro wood stoves and comfortable sofas, invites you to linger with a book or a board game. Breakfast can be enjoyed at the Lobby Cafe and drinks and light snacks at the new April Bar on fresh vintage skis. You have to reserve an open hot pot, which is a bit inconvenient. But the advantage is that you will definitely get it yourself. Can’t beat the location. We can walk to the center and the mountain bus stops right outside the hotel. It’s the perfect base for you and your pup’s Vermont adventure.

The Inn at Mountain View Farm is a special place to stay in the heart of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Our pet policy allows dogs for an additional $50 per night in select rooms: Petcham, Danville, N. Danville, Maidstone and Lost Nation. You can select the “Pet Friendly” option to book your room online. The hotel is so pet-friendly that there are friendly gold diggers at reception and an on-site animal sanctuary. Make sure your dog responds to other animals!
We stayed in the Deluxe Peacham Room, a comfortable and cozy room. Roscoe especially loved sleeping in front of the roaring fire. In the morning we were greeted in the main hotel building with hot baked goods and coffee. Thinking we couldn’t take another bite, the hotel staff brought out their famous pancakes with fresh greens. We couldn’t resist.
Boasting 400 acres in the unspoiled Northeast Kingdom, this historic farm is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. Had to get up early to see the sunrise in pastel pinks and purples. Over the mountains and settled in the morning mist valley.
The Kimpton Taconic in Manchester has one of the most generous hotel pet policies I’ve come across. From car to lift everyone is welcome! There are no restrictions on size, weight, breed or number of pets and there are no additional deposits or fees. The Kimpton Taconic is truly the perfect place to pamper yourself. Rooms are equipped with food bowls, toys, treats and a plush Orvis dog bed. (The Orvis flagship store across the street is a must-see with your dog). Dogs are allowed in the hotel’s on-site restaurant, Miss Grouse’s lobby and front porch dining area. In the cold season, there are outdoor heaters to keep you and your kids warm. Additional services include but are not limited to on-site concierge services, pet sitting, dog walking and pet spa services.
Made in Vermont in downtown Burlington is a home away from home for you and your pet. The pet policy at this downtown boutique bed and breakfast is to welcome well-behaved furry friends for a fee of $25 per pet. You can book directly online, add your dog to the number of guests and provide details in the notes.
We stayed in room 904, one of the larger rooms recommended for larger dogs. Even with Roscoe it was very convenient, the bathrooms are down the hall (at least it’s private though). The hotel’s edgy character may not be for everyone, but it’s in a great location just a short distance from the center. The host is very friendly and happy to provide recommendations for pet-friendly restaurants and things to do in Burlington.
Located between Killington and Rutland in central Vermont, Mountain Top Resort is not only dog-friendly, but dogs come first. Their pet policy states that companion dogs are welcome in the resort’s four luxury king cabins and guesthouses with Vermont-made cookies, dog beds and bowls. You can pay an additional $50 per dog per night. No more than two dogs per unit. Dogs must be registered at the time of booking.
