Located near Peter O Knight Airport, Davis Island’s Dog Beach is one of the few kid-friendly beaches left in Tampa. Expect a fenced dog park, where Fido is allowed to play on a leash, and a designated sand area.
Open from dawn to dusk, dogs are encouraged to roam the Bonita Dog Beach in Bonita Springs. There is also a dog pool, perfect for giving Fido a sand bath before heading home.
Go to Key West and find a sandy beach kept for dogs and their owners. In the shade of palm trees, freed children can play in the water and sand as long as they are supervised.
Dog Friendly Beaches Along The Gulf Coast
Dogs and people alike can sunbathe at Bark Beach at Spanish River Park in Boca Raton. Best of all, puppies can always be on a leash.
Outside of Tampa, Honeymoon Island State Park has over four miles of beaches and three miles of trails. There are designated animal beaches and walking areas, located at the southern end of the park. Note that dogs must be on a hand held leash.
Spend the day with your furry friend at Smyrna Dunes Park in New Smyrna Beach, where pets are allowed on the beach – although they must be on a leash at all times.
Just north of Sunny Isles, set up shop with chairs, cool and cute umbrellas at Haulover Beach Park with your child. Dogs are allowed in the sun, sand and water, as long as they are supervised by their owner.

When you order room service, there’s also a pet section for your pooch.
Ben’s love for dogs seems to come naturally. The estate, which opened in 2020, is named the Ben Trovato Estate which was owned by author Byrd Spilman Dewey, who wrote a best-selling book about his dog, Bruno. Throughout you can see Bruno’s drawings and paintings that you can read – there are many.
This is a dog park meets beer garden made of animal lovers’ dreams. On one acre in Neptune Beach – about 15 miles east of Downtown Jacksonville – sits the BrewHound Dog Park + Bar. There are many fenced areas for casual dining, where guests can enjoy several local beers on tap, specialty coffee offerings from Bold Bean Coffee Roasters, and lawn games. Daily, monthly and yearly packages are available. To help keep things peaceful, there is “Ruffee” who enforces the park’s rules.
Panama City Beach Hotels
With a name like Cups and Pups Coffee, there’s no telling that this is where many of Orlando’s dog-loving mornings begin. Located just a few minutes north of Orlando in downtown Orlando, this stone shop with a bright blue door has a Honey Nut Cheerio latte, lavender iced tea, and a cute dog logo adorning all the cups. If you and your child can’t find a place to relax inside, the store also hosts regular outdoor events for the entire community.
Baker’s Cay Restaurant in Key Largo is the modern “tail” of southern Florida, and it’s as close to pets as it gets. The four-star hotel on the north side of Overseas Highway has beachfront pet tiki, pet-friendly menus and is staffed by Director of Pet Relations, Maya “Cay-9.” Go to “evil hour” every day from 4pm to 5pm where your child can sneak around and hang out just like you.

Florida has nearly 1,350 miles of coastline, with many animal-friendly beaches along the way. With any dog beach, be sure to note the hours, leash requirements and required vaccinations, as they often rotate. In North Florida, white sand beaches with lots of open space include Atlantic Beach and Jacksonville Beach in Jacksonville, Crescent Beach in St. Augustine is aptly named Dog Beach across from Pier Park in Panama City.

The Barrymore Hotel in Tampa has its own dedicated area for pets, known as the “Doggie Business Center”. For downtown travel, there are three dog parks within half a mile of the hotel. East of Tampa, Orlando, select Walt Disney World resorts have pet-friendly properties and/or hotel units, including Port Orleans Riverside Resort, Yacht Club Resort and Art of Animation Resort. Disney’s “Pluto Welcome Kit” includes familiar treats like a bowl and mat that will be the envy of every dog when they come home.
In South Florida, Betsy’s in Miami Beach welcomes dogs of all sizes and two Canine Seniors, Betsy and Rosa the golden retriever, always greet guests upon arrival. On site, there’s a dog show by Carlos Andrew Cruz, and you can even get a massage with your dog.
